Sid takes the bus…

Once upon a time Sid the seagull woke in his bed, looked out of the lighthouse window and smiled to himself. The sun was shining through the little arched window and the sound of the waves gently washing over the rocks at the base of the his little island was quite relaxing. He let out a big yawn and checked the time on his mickey mouse alarm clock. The left arm was pointing to the six and the right was pointing somewhere else. He had to guess that bit of the time as the right  arm had snapped of when Sid threw the clock across the room because the alarm woke him up one morning when he was feeling grumpy.

Anyway, today Sid wasn’t feeling grumpy in fact he felt on top of his little world. Nothing was gonna get him down, it was such a nice day. He made himself some porridge and put a great big dollop of strawberry jam in it, drank down a big glass of milk and he was ready for the day.

I think I might pop down the shops and have a look for some pressies for Christmas. Sid climbed out onto the balcony and on the next little breeze took flight and glided off on a warm thermal. It almost carried him to the mainland without having to flap his wings at all. As he glided over the sea below he thought to himself how lovely the view was from up her and how lucky he was to be able to fly.

After landing on the mainland he strolled over to the car park, where he kept his harley. A big smile came over him as he approached his pride and joy, for it couldn’t have been a nicer day for cruising on the open road with the wind in you feathers.

Sid climbed onto his hunk of chrome and pressed the starter. Then he pressed it again, but nothing. Not even a murmur came from the engine. Sid scratched his head and thought for a moment. When did I last fill her up. He took the petrol cap off and rocked the bike too and fro. There wasn’t a sound, the tank was as dry as a bone. ‘Oh s**t’ he said to himself, trying to keep calm. He did say that nothing was gonna get him down today and he was determined to enjoy the day.

‘I know what to do’ Sid said in a jolly sought of way. I’ll jump on the bus, that’ll be great. I can sit by the window and enjoy the view. The park and ride was just round the corner, so Sid set of. Just as he got the bus stop the bus was pulling in. ‘Hey, today must be lucky day’ Sid thought to himself as he climbed aboard the bus and greeted everybody with a loud howdy doody peeps!

He was on his way now and the bus wasn’t too busy. The trees and fields were rushing by and the breeze from the window was cooling his head as he smiled to himself. The bus stopped for a moment and lady got on the bus and sat down beside Sid. ‘Morning son’ she said as she lowered herself into the seat, slowly. Obviously a bit stiff from the jogging, Sid joked to himself.

The bus set of again and Sid spoke to the little old lady about what a lovely day it was and how he was gonna buy some great pressies for the family. Suddenly the bus went over a speed bump, it surprised Sid and caught him unawares. He bounced about two foot in the air and banged his head on the ceiling came back down with a thud and let out a ripper. ‘Oooh I say young man, are you ok?’ said the old lady, holding her hand over her nose. Something was not quite right with the air conditioning on the bus. The bus went over another speed bump, Sid tried to hold on, but got thrown even higher this time. He fell off the seat and landed on his bum with a thud and let rip again. This time everyone on the bus let out a big cheer and Sid could feel the colour coming to his cheeks. He was so embarrased.

The speed bumps had started his tummy off. It began to grind and moan. With every movement his tummy grew larger and larger. How many more bumps could there be on this road. Finally Sid could not control himself any more. He stood up to get of the bus, and pressed the bell to tell the driver to stop. But in doing so had to lean forward which left him in an unusual position. As he leant forward he parped, then parped again and again. It was like a rap song, the perfect bass rhythm. The bus was filling with a strange aroma, the smiles had turned to gasps of surprise. Sid finally made it to the door and as he stepped down from the bus to the pavement he let out one last massive blow off. It caught the driver full in the face sending his hat spinning on his head.

Ah that was better, the relief was immense. Sid was now on solid ground and felt a bit safer. I think it’s time for a cup of tea and a slice of cake. Greasy Jim’s cafe was just round the corner and he could sit down for a while and recover from his ordeal.

Sid strolled up to Greasy Jim’s, parked up outside were loads of motor bikes. ‘Blimey hope it’s not too busy in there today’, Sid said to himself. He opened the door and the place was packed. Dirty Mary, Greasy Jim’s partner in crime was at the cooker frying loads of bacon and eggs for the hungry bikers. Everyone shouting and telling rude jokes. Sid found a nice little spot way over in the corner. He sat down and picked up the menu. As he did, he felt his belt tighten round his tummy and the pressure beacame immense. ‘Oh no!’ Sid cried aloud. The cafe fell silent just for moment as Sid ripped his pants from under him. The gust was a force 10 on the rictor scale and made a cloud so thick that you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. After a while the dust settled and the sunlight began to twinkle through the dissapating cloud. Sid looked up to see that the whole place had cleared. Greasy Jim and Dirty Mary clambered to their feet from behind the counter and wiped the dust from their eyes. ‘Blimey Sid, what have you been eating mate?’ dirty Mary enquired. ‘I don’t know but I wish I could put it in a bottle’ Sid replied, ‘ It would sort out the fuel problem for the future’.

Well Sid finally got his cup of tea and a slice of cake and Greasy Jim and Dirty Mary sat down and joined Sid in a well earned break from the days trials and tribulations. ‘Yep’ said Sid turning to Jimbo, ‘the wind certainly got up today’!

The End.
