Things are hotting up at JACD
Been going mad this week. I’ve just wrapped up the Spring Summer brochure for the BIg Man’s shop. Had to work over the weekend to get it finished, as it’s due for the printers on monday evening. All looking good. I totally redesigned all the type so that it’s lot easier to understand. Lots of new photos and of course a new cover.
Also completed 4 new posters for Visit Cornwall. Had to get them printed and encapsulated by Heron at Barnabus Repro. Thanks for doing them so quickly Heron! I will post them during the week.
Re designed a new header for the Spiral Construction website, it looks really great, I did 18 different versions for them to choose from.
Next week I’m working on a little booklet for Easylearn, which won’t take long to finish. I also have to design a new logo for Newquay.co.uk on Monday which I’m really looking forward to working on. And a quick squizz at the front page for the website, which is coming along nicely. All in the capable hands of Mike and Margaret from Buccaneer Bay.
Will soon be starting the Essential Guide for Newquay 2010, which is a small, handy A5 booklet to all that’s great in and around Newquay.
I finished another painting the other day which I’ve yet to post. I had it framed in a different frame than the usual white ones that I like. This time it was black with silver on the edges. God it looked tacky, I wasn’t to impressed with my choice so it’s going back on Monday to be reframed in the normal way. Another lesson learned I suppose!
Last weekend Annie and I went to London for my birthday treat. We went to see the Van Gogh exhibition, as I’m a great fan of him and Monet of course. Very inspiring to see how rough the paintings were. But beautiful, vivid colours. Wow, you just stand there and it’s like eating the loveliest food with your eyes.
Well if I can turn out a few paintings that do that to people before I die, I’ll be a happy chappy. We also went to see a play at the Apollo Theatre Victoria. It was called ‘Wicked’ and it was wicked! Fantastic story about the witches from Follow the yellow brick road and all that stuff, you know what I mean. The wicked witch of the West etc.
My daughter Joanna is in Australia with her boyfriend at the moment and when they get back I’m hoping that she will be able to start working with me. My new financial year starts in April and We’re aiming to grow the business in 2010.
We are working on a new marketing strategy which involves us networking as much as possible in the future, some new direct marketing campaigns and fine tuning my google adwords. As you might have realised I have recently redesigned our website. It’s looking great and we have had some really great comments. I still have lots more to do over the next couple of weeks, but it’s already working. We have had 2 really nice enquiries only last week. One of them I’m very excited about as it involves a theatre company. If all goes well and they like my concepts I will let you know how it progresses.
Anyway it’s late and I’m finally tired! nite….
