JACD Update…

Hi, was in the office bright and early this morning, plenty to crack on with. We’re re designing a beer label for Ellis Original Ale. It’s being brewed by St Austell Brewery for Paul Stephens at THF and should be bottled ready in a couple of weeks.

I’m finishing up the Easylearn corporate brochure this week, which is nearly there. This should help Graham get his stuff out there to all the schools in England.

Got a lovely enquiry through Network Cornwall. Two sisters from Falmouth are opening a new shop selling a mixture of vintage & new gifts, mirrors, chandeliers and jewellery. They’re coming to see us on Wednesday to discuss the branding and signage etc. Should be a fantastic opportunity and we’re looking forward to helping them with the launch. Check out our posts later on in the week to see how we get on…

Oxford Innovations have asked us to turn around an A1cartoon drawing for a presentation on Friday, just waiting for the breif and then I will get the pens into action again…

NCi website should be up and running soon. Loads of info to input…. The corporate brochures are waiting for content to be handed over.

Well I’ve got to get on with some work… and a cuppa is siting here waiting for me… mmmm

JACD Graphic Design Update

Hi You out there, sorry haven’t spoken for a while, I’ve been working hard and not writing very much. I’m feelin in a silly mood so I may write a load of rubbish. Sorry bout that! Today I finished a rough layout for Easylearn Corporate Brochure. Joanna is half way through a lovely little number for NCi. That’s enough about the work.

Had a lovely time taking some photos for Jamies wedding. He doesnt’ know it yet but the pics came out lovely. Should get them to him by Wednesday. Heron and Jamie were wearing Cornish kilts, very cool! I also dropped a few paintings into the Lane Gallery so that I have some new stuff on display. Spent some time walking on Dartmoor with Annie and Jill my two favourite pixies. We walked for miles and miles and miles. When I got back to the tent I fell asleep within 5 minutes.

There woz a lovely motorbike shop in Plympton which had loads of Triumphs. I particularly liked the old Triumph Bonniville Thruxton 900, right up my street, so if anyone has any work for us to do bring it so that I can save up and buy the bike.

Today Ilearned to play ‘Stay with me’ by the Faces. I’m gona try and get Ross me old mucker to sing at the Jam night and give me achance to let rip on the old guitar. I’ve also asked him to have a look at Al Green’s ‘Lets Stay Together’, should be fun. We might get a practise in one night before the jam.

Been swimming in the sea loads with our new wetsuits. It’s bloody marvellous how boyant you are with a tight suit on. Get through the water like a dolphin. Doesn’t taste very nice when you come up for air and get a mouthful of salt water though. Well can’t think of much else to talk about so I’ll get on a bit and speak again soon. Keep taking the pills.

This looks great and makes the pages look a lot more visually interesting than a load of names in a list. Next job is to get my portfolio uploaded into a gallery. Sid goes Ice Skating – a cool bedtime story!

Once day Sid awoke from a very deep sleep, he’d been tossing and turning most of the night and couldn’t understand why. Maybe it was something that he ate the previous day. Sid had been to see Greasy Jim and Dirty Mary who ran the bikers cafe down in Carharrack, for tea and biscuits the day before. Dirty Mary was well known for her home made cookies laced with Rum. They were really tasty and Sid had eaten more than he could count. Being an older bird he now had problems with his stomach, after years of neglect, and was feeling a bit of a bloater.

Anyway it was a new day and Sid thought of what he could do to occupy his time today. He scratched his head and picked his nose for a while, then, suddenly a massive idea popped into his head! ‘I know I’ll go ice skating’, Sid thought to himself. ‘ I do love racing around on the ice and it’s especially nice when I have one of those hot chocolates with the lovely mini marshmallows in. Food was always a major reason for doing anything in Sid’s life.

Before you could say whoopee do! Sid was on his bike and cruising down to the Eden Project. It was a crisp, cold day, just right for skating. Sid loved it when you breathed out into the cold air and it turned into beautiful little clouds. Sometimes when he fell over he would do a little botty burp as he landed with a thud. Everyone could see a little warm cloud rise in the air from his leathers, as he sat there with a naughty little smile on his face.

Sid turned up at the car park looking for a place to leave the harley. As he got down to lower parking spaces, close to the entrance he could see loads of bikes all in a row. ‘Oh yeh, looks like the gang are here, will be cool to see everyone again. Sid hired his skates and wobbled onto the ice. As he did a roar of laughter came from in the middle of the ice rink. Sid wasn’t to good at skating and it was the first time this year, so he was a bit wobbly at first. He tripped over straight away and fell beak first onto the ice. Another skater went flying as Sid tried to stop himself from falling, grabbing onto their legs as he went down.

After a while Sid was now going round fairly smoothly, a bit shaky but at least he was moving. He got to the middle and noticed the gang all chatting. There was Greasy Jim wearing his crotchless leathers and having a good scrath, Dirty Mary who had come in bright pink leathers with false boobies on. Joanna and Liam were speeding round the ice backwards on one leg. They were wearing long red leather trench coats that flowed behind them. Mark, Sally and Livvy were all here as well. Mark was in his one peice swimming suit with a little furry bit to keep his manhood warm and Sally and Liv’s were wearing red leather jogging suits. Annie was showing off her new, white, thigh length leather skating boots.

The whole gang decided to join in a conga and skate round the ice together. The idea was to see how many people they could get to join in. At first it was just the gang, then more and more people joined on the end until everyone who was on the ice was part of the conga chain. Singing and laughter rang out from the little valley, you could here it for miles. And then, suddenly Sid slipped. It started a chain re-action. Sid went down first, his head bashing into Annie’s bottom, she in turn caught greasy and Dirty Mary who fell together in a pile, this caused Joanna and Liam to flip head over heels. They landed in front of Mark who tripped and skidded down the ice on his front taking off all his fury bits, which made things very uncomfortable. Sally and Liv’s laughed so much they fell over on their bums. Within minutes everyone was in a big pile on the floor.

Unfortunately Sid ended up in the middle underneath everyone, the pressure was too great with all these people pressing on his little tummy. First of a little squeak rang out, then a rumble and finally a gust of the biggest proportions. A fart erupted from the pile of bodies that lay strewn around the ice, forming a massive, smelly cloud that lingered in the frozen air for ages. All was quiet for a moment, then Sid clambered to his feet, fighting his way through choking gas and shouted ‘Who’s for a hot choccy and marshmallows then.

The End

Sid Gets a birthday treat – a bedtime story!

One lovely day in the middle of summer, Sid awoke and shouted out loud ‘yippee it’s my birthday, I’m gonna have such a magical day. There’s gonna be lots of balloons, party poppers, tons of food and drink and I’m gonna invite all my bests friends over to join in the fun’ he chuckled to himself as he lay in his bed made of straw. Sid got up had a quick shower and a shave and got on the phone to his mates. He had written a list of who to call while eating his breakfast. There’s Joanna, Liam, Annie and Joe from over Truro way. The guys in the band, the crazy gang from down the market and of course no party would be complete without those crazy bikers from Carharrack, Hell Mary and Jockstrap Jim.

After an hour on the phone Sid had finally spoke to all his friends and had arranged everything for later on that day. ‘We’ll have a BBQ’ said Sid aloud, ‘ha ha, that’ll really hit the spot. Just need to get some food and drink in.

Sid jumped on his newly aquired Harley, which now been decked out with lovely new set of leather saddle bags, you know the ones with all the silver studs on. Very soon he was cruisin down to Tescos to get the grub in for the party. The bike sounded mean and Sid looked well cool with his torn leather jacket and his seagull insignia sprawled across his back. I could just make out what it said as he screeched of down the road. One life, One road, ride it fast and never look back! What a dude.

Sid arrived at Tescos and took off his shades, a loud whistle came from way up on the roof, it was his old pal stinky from the dump. Stinky was a good friend of Sid’s from the old days before Sid moved to live on a lighthouse. They used to forage of the scraps that were being turned over by the diggers up the dump.

‘Hi ya stinky old man’ said Sid holding his nose from the whiff of old stinky. He did smell like a bin liner full of dead fish. ‘What you up to?’ enquired Stinky. ‘It’s me birthday Sid and I’m having a bit of a do’ Sid replied, ‘your welcome to come over to the lighthouse and join in if you can get over later.’

‘I’ll be there’ Stinky replied and I’ll brush my hair as well. ‘Oh no’ Sid thought to himself ‘ I’ll have to get the air fresheners out’.

Anyway Sid got his shopping loaded into the saddle bags and off he trundled home. That night all Sid’s friends came round including old Stinky, who true to his word and had brushed his hair, although it didn’t help very much with the fishy smell. The BBQ was cooking away, the drinks were flowing and everyone was partying down big time. All was going really well until Hell Mary decided to challenge Stinky to a limbo dancing competition. Stinky didn’t stand a chance as Hell Mary was well known for here nimble dancing skills. While all this was going down, Jockstrap Jim was laying on the balcony, out of his head from sniffing blackcurrant lockets. I tried it once, but it brought tears to my eyes for days.

Joanna and Liam were hanging upside down from the chandalier singing songs from Mary Poppins in a cockney accent. Joe and Annie were skinny dipping in the sea under the bright blue moon. It was a great party until Jockstrap Jim suggested giving Sid the bumps. Nobody really had a clue how old Sid was, so they guessed and gave him fifty of the best. It all started ok, Joanna and Liam had one leg, Annie and Joe had the other. The wings were in the capable hands of Stinky and Jockstrap Jim. They reached 25 bumps, but then strange little noises began to come from Sid’s bottom. First of all it was a little squeak, then a rumble and a parp. They reached 40 bumps, by this time everyone reallised that this was going to be so straight forward. Sid’s was pleading no more but the gang wouldn’t let up. The reached 48, 49 and then…. 50. Just as they did the last toss into the air Sid couldn’t hold back any longer, he had held his bottocks together with all his might, but it was too much. The air was filled with the smelliest, fartiest smell that ever left a bottom. Even worse than old Stinky himself, it was so strong that anyone withing ten feet was completely overwhelmed by the odour, and sent them all crashing to the floor gasping for air. Sid landed on his bottom and did one last parp! ‘Oh no I’d better go to the little boys room, I’ve done a whoopsy’ Said Sid as he ran of into the night clutching his underpants.

Sid meets the hells angels – a bedtime nightmare!

One day, I think it was a Sunday, Sid was resting on the deck chair, sunning himself while doing the times 2 crossword. He wasn’t bright enough to do the cryptic, he couldn’t even understand the clues. Anyway he turned his attention to the extra supliment that was included on a Sunday and looked inside. As he feathered through the pages he saw a double page spread featuring a story about bikers. ‘Ohh yesss!’ cried Sid out loud “I can just see myself as a hairy biker, have to grow some though’ he thought to himself as he picked his nose. I should fit in nicely, a dirty old messer like me.

Sid quickly jumped out of the deck chair and looked towards the mainland to check out the wind direction. He was a bit of a lazy old bugger and if the wind was blowing in the wrong direction he wouldn’t bother. What I need is some gear and a motorbike. Oh yeh, I can just see myself now cruising with the boys and picking up scraps as we pull into smokey Joe’s cafe for a bite to eat and a cuppa splosh.

The wind was perfect and Sid jumped of the edge of the lighthouse, glided for as long as he dare and then began to flap his wings, which lifted him gracefully into the air, narrowly missing a basking shark that was feeding on the service of the water. ‘Morning Sid’ said the shark with a big yawn, ‘you look in a hurry’. ‘Oh yes’ replied Sid, ‘I’m gonna join the hells angels, ha ha’….

Sid arrived at the mainland and set himself dow with a little bump and a skid, it was a bit muddy today or he had landed on something unpleasant and there was a funny smell in the air.

‘Where’s the best place to go and what kind of bike am I after’ Sid thought to himself. ‘ I know just the place and I think I’d like to try one of those Harley Fat Boys. ‘I’ll look really mean on that’.

A quick hop skip and a flap and Sid was outside the Harley shop, there was lots of bikers milling around trying out the various bikes. Sid looked over to the corner and there it was, the biggest, fattest, meanest piece of chrome on two wheels you ever did see. ‘Ohhhhhhhhh’ looky here’, said Sid, as his bottom quivered and gave out a little parp! Let me get my hands on this baby and give it some welly. Within five minutes Sid had the beast between his legs and was now cruising down the A30. You’ll never see a seagull with a bigger smile on it’s face, Sid was beaming from ear to ear as he sped down the outside lane, sticking fingers up to people in their open top cars. He did think to himself that if he was flying over them now, he would quickly drop a little white bombshell on them for a laugh, ha ha, but back to the bike in hand.

Sid decided to call in and see the notorious, wicked and mean hairy biker ‘Greasy Jim’ who was the head honcho of the Hells Angels in Cornwall, known as the ‘Hells Bells’. As he pulled up outside Greasy Jim’s shack on the outside of town, he could see Jim polishing his shiny nuts. ‘Wots happening man’ Sid shouted over the burbling of his harley as he turned it off. The engine quietened down and there was an moments silence as Greasy Jim slowly walked over to inspect Sid’s new Harley. ‘Cool man’ said Greasy Jim ‘nice wheels dude, you should join me and the boys’.

Sid and Greasy Jim went inside the shack to meet the gang. There was lots of tea flowing and the Hells Angels favourite biscuits were being passed around, you know the ones, those pink wafers with the creamy layers inside. After lots of slapping on the back and telling of dirty jokes, Greasy Jim turned to Sid and said ‘you’ll have to pass a test to join the boys. ‘Whooops’ thought Sid ‘what kind of test’ asked Sid in a wobbly voice. ‘Nothing to worry about’ said Greasy Jim ‘just a nice hot curry to eat, that’s all’.

The test was for Sid to eat the hottest curry know to man. The recipe came from Greasy Jim’s long time partner in crime, Dirty Mary, and was know to kill or mame people if they didn’t have what it takes to stomach a hot curry. Lucky for Sid he was quite experienced in the art of currying, after many years of eating week old left overs from the back of the Ganges takeaway.

Dirty Mary got the curry on the boil and very soon Sid was sitting at the table with the deadly concoction in front of him. Through the steam, amongst the bubbles Sid could see all kinds of nasty things lurking in the fluorescent stodge. He closed his eyes and ate it all up. At first steam began to shoot out of his ears then his eyes rolled completely round to the back of their sockets. Then unfortunately worst of all his tummy began to grow, and grow and grow, until Sid did the most enormous fart. The trouble was that Sid had his leathers on and the fart couldn’t escape so it simply whirled around in his trousers scorching his bits. Another fart, then another followed, they kept coming, parp, parp, parp!!. After a while the whole room erupted with laughter and congratulated Sid on becoming the latest member of the Hells Angels. Sid was well pleased with himself and left for home backfiring all the way into the sunset.

meet Sid the seagull – Gusty Pants!

Meet Sid, he will be taking us on lots of little excursions in the future. He’s thinking of joining the dirtiest, greasiest mob of bikers in the land. The carharrack chapter of the hell’s Angels. No-one has given them a name yet because there isn’t a word that can describe how low they are. Sid’s gonna have a chat with their longest standing member ‘Greasy Jim’ and see if they can’t come up with a suitable name. Then he’s gonna go down the cancer research shop and buy some cheap, worn out leathers. Watch this space to see the transformation.

Sid The Seagull ‘The Picnic’ another bedtime story

One morning Sid awoke to the sun shining through the window of the lighthouse. It crept slowly across the room and warmed his little cheeky face. ‘Oooooohhhh Ahhhhhh what a lovely morning it is out there today’ said Sid to himself, wiping the sleep from his eyes. ‘Wonder what can I do today, he thought to himself. ‘I know’ he shouted out in a loud, squawky voice, ‘I’ll go for a picnic’. ‘That will be right nice, a lovely little flap in the sunshine, a tasty picnic, maybe a little snooze on the beach and then back home in time for Coronation Street, all sounds jolly good to me’.

Sid quickly jumped out of bed and searched high and low for his picnic basket. ‘Where did I leave it last time I used it’, he thought to himself while scratching his head. ‘I know just the place’ as he looked in the cupboard under the stairs. ‘Ah, there it is, right at the back’. Sid did like to talk to himself a lot, because he lived on his own at the top of the lighthouse. To tell you the truth he was a bit of a grumpy old git, and no-one could stand being near him for more than a few hours.

Anyway, after a little while Sid had filled the picnic basket with everything he could find in the larder. There was chicken drumsticks, some old dried up chips left over from the last visit to the mainland, a couple of discarded jacobs cream crackers and a big chunk of stilton cheese. Well I think that’s what it was, it had lots of green mould on it and it did smell very stinky. Some lovely sunblushed tomatoes, although I think they were just dried up bits of tomato skin from the skip down below at the bottom of the lighthouse, put out by the keeper.

The basket was on the table and Sid started to do a bit of warming up, getting himself ready for the flight across the sea to the mainland. As he stretched out his feathers to check for any damage, it suddenly dawned on him that he was going to have to fly with picnic basket in his beak. Ooooh noooo, what am I doing’ he said to himself, ‘how am I gonna manage to carry the basket and fly at the same time. Now Sid was a bright Bird, he scratched his nuts and had a quick think, nothing too serious mind you, not that bright. ‘I’ve got a plan, I’ll hitch a ride over on the delivery boat that drops of the stuff for the keeper every morning’. ‘They won’t mind a beautiful old bird like me sitting on the front of their rib.

Sure enough the rib arrived and within a few moments Sid was there mate, sitting right at the front of the boat as it sped towards the mainland, water splashing all over the place. Sid got a bit of a wash, which wasn’t a bad thing, sometimes he didn’t wash for weeks.

As the boat arrived at the harbour, Sid quickly jumped off with picnic basket under his wing and strolled down the gang plank towards the beach. He found a lovely spot on the beach and set out all the lovely food on a litlle napkin that he had been saving for such an occaission.

He ate up all the food and put his arms behind his head and sat back and closed his eyes. ‘Wicked’ he said to himself, ‘who could ask for more, the warm sun, a full tummy and now a little doze. after a while Sid was fast asleep, he began to snore and started talking in his sleep. I think it was something about pilchards and what he could do to a couple on toast. ‘Catch them, grill them, stick um on a slice and eat them’ he sang to himself in his sleep.

After a while Sid awoke because of a strange sound. ‘Did you hear that, what was that, it sounded like a really loud fog horn’, he said to another seagull that was nearby. The other gull replied with a bit of an attitude, ‘I don’t think it was a fog horn mate, I think it was a bit closer to home’. ‘What are you saying’ Sid replied in astonishment! ‘Well take a look at your shorts’ said the other gull, who by now had a grin like a cheshire cat. Sid looked down and couldn’t believe his eyes. While he was asleep, he had done the biggest fart that you could imagine and blown a hole clean through his pants. It wasn’t a pleasant sight to behold, there were bits everywhere. Sid quickly covered himself with the napkin and flew away with a very red face and a cold breeze up his bottom.

Sid The Seagull ‘The Giant Chip’ a bedtime story!

Once upon a time there lived a seagull called Sid, he was a funny old bird who lived on a lighthouse, on a rock somewhere out at sea. One day while sitting at the top of the rock, Sid was talking to the clouds as they rolled by and giving each of them names. They seemed to speak back to him and whisper words in the wind. ‘helloooooooo sid, what are yooooooou dooooooing today’ one of the fluffy white clouds asked him, and as gently rolled by. ‘Well I was feeling rather hungry’ Sid replied, ‘I thought I might go and find me a rather large chip. Can you see from up there, if there are suitable chips going spare back on dry land. ‘Oooooooh yes’, replied the cloud, who had now formed into a giant smiling face, ‘there’s a nice old lady who has just bought a bag of lovely chips and I can smell them from here’. The cloud rolled up one of it’s floaty bits and pointed in the direction of the old lady with a pack of freshly cooked, steamy chips. ‘Over there Sid, that’s where you’ll find your tea’. The cloud then rolled up and vanished onto thin air.

By this time Sid’s tummy was rumbling, he looked in the direction that the cloud had pointed and imagined the steamy chips and what they would taste like as he munched them. ‘Mmmmmmmmm I just can’t wait, I think I’ll fly over to the land right now’. Sid had a quick look in the mirror, brushed his hair and ran with a hop skip and a jump to the edge of the lighthouse roof. He took a flying leap into the breeze, did a quick rolly polly in mid air and shouted out ‘whooooopeee, steamy chips here I come’.
The land wasn’t very far from the lighthouse and the wind was blowing in the right direction, so Sid was able to glide quickly and smoothly to the place where the little old lady was sitting quietly, enjoying her chips. ‘Wow’ said Sid to himself, as he glided in a little circle, taking in the air that was wafting the smell of those big fat chips up to him. ‘what a wonderful whiff, those chips do smell delicious’. The little old lady had just picked up the last chip and was admiring it, whilst munching on her previous mouthful. ‘These chips are the best chips I’ve had in a long time’ said the old lady out loud. Then, just as she was about to put that last giant chip into her mouth, Sid took up his best swooping shape and ripped down faster than the speed of sound, grabbed the chip from the ladies clutching hands, and flew of with the chip hanging out of both sides of his beak.

It was so funny, Sid was perched on a little rock just above the old lady, who was now looking up shaking her fist at him. ‘You’re a naughty seagull’ said the old lady as she coughed and spluttered from the shock. Sid didn’t mind being shouted at, it was worth it because the giant chip tasted just fantastic!

After a little stroll and a bit of a squawk to help the giant chip go down, Sid decided to fly back to the lighthouse. As he was flying through the air, this time against the wind, which made him huff and puff a bit, as he now had a big tummy. The fluffy white cloud unfolded high above him with a big grin on its face. ‘Hi Sid, I can seeeeeeeee from the smile on yooooooooooour face that you made it to the land and got yooooooooour chip’ said the fluffy white cloud in a breezy voice. ‘Oh yes’ replied Sid it was the biggest , fattest chip that I have ever eaten’. Then, just as he spoke, Sid’s tummy started to rumble. It gurgled and made all kinds of funny noises. By this time Sid was getting really worried, he wasn’t smiling any more beacause he knew what was coming. ‘Oh nooooooo’ he said to himself as he flew through the air, flapping his wings faster than ever. Suddenly Sid let rip, the biggest fart that you had ever heard came from his bottom, it was so powerful that for a moment Sid lost his balance and started to tumble to the sea below. ‘Oh my’ Sid said to himself those chips are great but they do upset my tummy.

After a moment Sid had recovered and was now flying back to the comfort of his home on the lighthouse. His bottom was a bit sore from the blast of the blow-off, but he was feeling really proud of himself. What a tasty chip and what a memorable fart!

‘Buccaneer Bay’ a new Swashbuckling Cornish Attraction in Newquay, Cornwall

‘Buccaneer Bay’, The New Swashbuckling attraction in Newquay is now up and running and looks fab. You can even take an exciting pirate cruise on the high seas with me old shipmate Cap’n Nine-Toe and his frisky maid, and talk bout the good old days of pirating, ah ha!! It’s well worth a visit!

buccaneer Buccaneer Bay a new Swashbuckling Cornish Attraction in Newquay, Cornwall

Buccaneer Bay’s looking great!

Looking out of the window and it’s raining again, can’t believe it, who forgot to put some change in the sunshine meter. Very busy at work now, went over to Newquay to see for myself the new style ‘Buccaneer Bay’ and take in the experience of the ‘Sunken Village of the Damned’. It looks excellent as you arrive outside with the building newly painted and my picture of Calico Jack standing there in all his glory, about twenty feet high on the building. Then the ‘Buccaneer Bay’ Lettering stands out really well!

When you begin your journey through the attraction, feeling excited at the prospect of being scared at any moment, but not knowing when and how, you’re greeted by a jolly female pirate. She brings to life many of the legends and tales of old Cornwall and the pirate days. Then you pass by the dungeon where it’s said that to enter is to at your own risk and many scary things do happen in these dark and smokey cells. I was too frightened to go in yesterday, but a close friend told me of their experience so I think I’m gonna go back for another visit and pluck up the courage to go in again, it does sound wicked! I think Mike and Margaret have got a real winner on their hands!

Any way after my trip to Newquay, I’ve got a lovely leaflet to put together for Buccaneer Bay. Lots of pics of pirates and treasure maps to play with, can’t wait. Then Paul is coming over to do a sales sheet for The Big Man’s Shop. Spiral Construction were delighted with my design for their web site, so that’s gone for programming via Net Insight, be nice to get some more work through them. I’ve also got a load of concepts to do for Oxford Innovations next week, which will include some full size cartoons of the various presenters.

THF have asked me to design another brochure for a further housing development in Camelford. So pretty stacked for the next few weeks.

Went to see U2 the other evening in Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, they were breathtaking, the sound was fabulous and the 88,000 crowd were unforgettable. Our band have a gig in Falmouth Football Club this Saturday, we’ll proably play to about a hundred people. What I would give to play in front of a crowd as big as U2 did. Must be so good, ah well that’s another life!

Haven’t seen the the biker mob in Carharrack for a few days, but I will try and visit some time this week, I’m just a bit busy and I am cycling at the moment, so I’ve got to wait until I have the car.

I started a new painting. It’s a buzzard with it’s kill (a rabbit). It will make a lovely painting, not to everyones taste, but I’ve been wanting to paint a buzzard for years, and I finally found the right image to work from. I will post it once I’ve finished it.

Well I’ve got to get ready for work now, lots to do and band practise tonight, speak soon…

PS I’m trying to work out how to get my paintings into a carousel style viewer instead of the way I’m showing them at the moment. I’ve downloaded the plug in but I need to work out to get the carousel into the page. Should look really good once I’ve done it. Watch this space.

My web site is a bit messed up at the moment!

Sorry about the appearance of my web site at the moment, I was fiddling with it the other day and messed up part of the root code that controls the display. I’m hoping that it will be fixed over the weekend and things will be back to normal. I’m off to Cardiff today, Mark and I are going to see U2 live in concert. Should be a great gig. I saw some photos on my nephew’s facebook of the set and it looked very exciting.

I’ve been extremely busy this week, lots to do and it’s getting even busier for the coming few months. Might even have to get an extra pair of hands. This week I completed a new web site for Spiral Construction, which just needs to be signed off. Did some really exciting and large graphics for Mike and Margaret at Tunnels Through Time in Newquay, who are having a re-launch on Sunday… get down to Newquay and take a look at the building, it’s fab! Good luck to them, I will try and be there if I get back from the gig in time. I have designed some more flyers for Gloveman Supplies this week. Come up with some fresh ideas for a presentation folder for Clive Burge Associates. Finished off the Big Man’s Shop brochure and sent it to the printers. Plus I have been in discussions with Oxford Innovations regarding some work that will be produced for their launch in October. We’re thinking of making up some cartoons characters that will be used during their presentations. I’ll post all this next week when I’ve gathered photos.

I took my St Ives painting off my blog, I decided I didn’t like it. It’s not up to my usual standard. Don’t know why, just doesn’t feel right for some reason. Will try harder next time. Happy birthday to Jimbo and Dan my brother for Sunday… love you both lots. `See you soon x

Just finished another two paintings

Can’t stop too long, have got to go over to Gloveman Supplies and take a few product shots for another flyer. Plus I have to crack on with a web site for Spiral Construction through of Netinsight. I’m trying to wrap as much of it as I can today. Well I’ve just finished another 2 paintings. One is a still life called ‘bread and cheese’ and the other is a portrait that I did of Annie. I was thinking of giving to sally her daughter for her birthday. Just got to get them framed now.

  • PapersPast

"PapersPast is on a journey, a journey to success. In real terms our mission is to fill forty order slots a day, five days a week and to achieve this we have first got to put in place a number of building blocks and I'm pleased to say that Joe Armstrong Designs has helped tremendously by firstly producing our new brochure. The retro feel and styling exactly captures the right mood in which to promote these Birthdate and Anniversary gift packed newspapers. You have enabled us to move from our tired old black and white A4 leaflet to this eye catching sepia, cut and folded brochure - thank you and welcome on board. In recognition of the good work you have done Sam and I had no hesitation in commissioning Joe Armstrong Designs to work on the next project/building block - to integrate the brochures' style and branding throughout the www.paperspast.co.uk website. We await the outcome of this project with interest and so our journey continues so do watch this space."
